As daughters of Saint Hannibal Mary Di Francia , the Daughters of Divine Zeal (FDZ) follow the example of their Saintly Founder by daily praying for Vocations and propagating this prayer everywhere, promoting religious and priestly vocations, especially by being “good laborers” themselves. The obedience to the divine command of Jesus: Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest that He may send workers into His harvest" (Mt.9:37-38/Lk.10:2), constitutes their whole life and is the unique and particular characteristic of their being daughters of Saint Hannibal. The Daughters of Divine Zeal propagate the importance of Praying for Vocations by publishing books, vocational magazines, posters and prayer aids. The doors of their convents and retreat houses are open to the young, discovering their personal vocation. Since vocation promotion and animation is everybody’s concern, they also assist and offer seminars for lay vocation promoters and animators. Their charism, expressed simply in the Latin word ROGATE, is not simply praying for Vocations alone. It is coupled with the zeal to work for the upliftment of the miserable condition of the poor especially of the little ones. The FDZ express the love and concern of St. Hannibal toward the poor and the little ones by running orphanages, schools for young boys and girls, vocational and technical centers for the youth, and homes for disabled children. They also provide medical clinics and nutrition center especially in the depressed areas. They also have housing projects and formation centers in mission territories. The Daughters of Divine Zeal was born from the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus and cradled in the bosom of Avignone Quarters: in the midst of the poorest of the poor of Messina. They were established on March 19, 1887. |
